Kent Area Chairman

Saturday, 1 December, 2012

In light of Katy Turner standing down as Kent Conservative Future Area Chairman, I am writing to you to invite nominations for the election of the next Area Chairman and to give notification of the AGM. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Katy for all her hard work whilst she has held the post. I very much hope she will remain involved.

Nominations are open to any eligible CF members. An eligible member must have been signed up to the Conservative Party for more than three months and is aged between 15 and 30 inclusively. Eligible members can vote, propose candidates or indeed to run for the position. We strongly encourage each and every member to consider running for Area Chairman.

Please see below a time frame for the election:

Midnight, 3rd December 2012 Nominations open
Midnight, 10th December 2012 Nominations close
11th December 2012 Candidates announced
15th December 2012 AGM to be held, time and location to be confirmed
As Regional Chairman, I will be co-ordinating this election to ensure that it is fair and unbiased. Each nominee must be proposed and seconded by another eligible member as defined above. The attached nomination form should be completed, scanned and emailed to by midnight on the 10th December 2012. Any nominations received after this time will not be valid. It should be noted that any eligible members can propose or second more than one candidate.
In line with the constitution, we will only hold an election in the event that there is more than one candidate standing for each position. If we do proceed with a physical election then there will be one vote per member in attendance and only eligible members will be allowed to vote at the AGM.  The ballot will be held in private and the ballot papers will be anonymous with the votes being counted on the day. If you cannot attend the meeting there is the opportunity to vote by proxy, in order to do this please email me, the returning officer, after the announcement of candidates on the 2nd March 2012. You should include your date of birth, full name, local Constituency and full address. The proxy voting will close on 14th December 2012 at midnight to allow for processing prior to the AGM.
