Conservative Future debating competition

Wednesday, 30 May, 2012

We at Conservative Future have done a great job up and down the country campaigning in the local and mayoral elections, but we're also here as an organisation to discuss the political questions of the day. So we felt it high time to have our own competition to debate political issues from a Conservative viewpoint. Starting this June, we're having a nationwide debating competition.

Ben Howlett said: "It is incredibly important that Conservative Future gives training and support to members who are looking to practice their public speaking and debating skills. This is a really fun scheme that we are looking to add a bit of spice to the CF yearly calendar. Have you got what it takes to win the competition?"

The format is debating in pairs (£10 per team), in parliamentary style debates, with three judges each round. All you have to do to sign up is send me an email by June 17th (to peter.ben.martin@gmail.com), with your name, your debating partner's name, and your contact details, and we'll get you started with a debate in your local area. If you don't have a debating partner, send me an email anyway and we'll do our best to pair you up with someone near you. The finals are planned to be held in Autumn in the Houses of Parliament.
