5 minute Q&A with…Jeremy Hunt MP

Why should people get involved with organisations like Conservative Future?

Because standing on the sidelines will not give the country the government it deserve s.

Pick one thing about the last 12 years of the Labour government that you would change?

Not let the debt boom get out of control. And reall reform the public services, not just pretend to reform them.

5 minute Q&A with…Serene John-Richards

4. When do you think the next general election will be?

You know, many people may disagree but I have been banking on a Summer 09 election for quite some time now.

5. Why should people get involved with organisations like Conservative Future?

Delivering leaflets is the best job in the world. Explaining the difference between junk mail and constituency literature, encounters with domestic animals… Nothing beats the hotties though.

5 minute Q&A with…Liam Fox MP

Why should people get involved with organisations like Conservative Future?

You either shape the world or get shaped it – your choice!

Its neglect and indifference to our armed forces.

5 minute Q&A with…James Gould

When do you think the next General Election will be?

Brown and Labour are finished now so he’ll push it all the way to the wire. So it should be either late May 2010 or June 2010.

Why should people get involved with organisations like Conservative Future?

Conservative future provides young politically minded people with a real opportunity to be involved in what I honestly believe is the best organised and most exciting youth political movement in the country. CF is proof that politics is relevant to the youth of Britain and also a great opportunity to make a real difference.

5 minute Q&A with…Oliver Letwin MP

What are you currently working on?

A succession of green papers and other policy documents. We recently issued green papers on the low carbon economy, decentralisation of power in England and radical new approaches to affordable housing. I am now working on papers about policies to promote ownership, the jobs of the future and innovation.

Who is your political hero?

Keith Joseph, so far as recent British political history is concerned, and Abraham Lincoln if we are talking about world history.

5 minute Q&A with…Tory Bear

Who is your political hero?

Derek Draper for his high moral values and the modesty he has shown in quietly working to further his cause. Nah just kidding, I have lots, Peel immediately comes to mind, for his far-sightedness and willingness to put the country before his backbenchers. I recommend you join the Peel Society; you get an excellent free pen. Matt Drudge is another; no one has done more to reinvent the wheel in terms of how political news is reported.

When do you think the next General Election will be?

As much as Gordon will want to cling on to the bitter end, the whole house of cards is crumbling around him. Another week as bad as “smeargate” and he’s out the door. Would love it to be in June…

5 minute Q&A with…Emma Carr

When do you think the next General Election will be?

I think Gordon Brown will call a general election at the last possible moment. I think he is going to be too busy attempting to be an Economic International guru and forming a ‘special relationship’ with Obama to concentrate on political affairs in this country.

Why should people get involved with organisations like Conservative Future?

Because it is an organisation which is welcoming and good fun. You really feel like you are making a difference when you’re working with your local councillors or PPCs and at times that can be quite exhilarating. You also can make some really good friends and suddenly have a rather busy social calendar.

5 minute Q&A with…Simon Richards

Why should people get involved with organisations like Conservative Future?

Because CF does what it says on the tin – it’s Conservative and it’s the future. I’ve been very impressed with the CF members I’ve met around the country and we’re committed to helping CF Branches wherever we can – finding speakers for them, helping arrange Free Spirits events etc., etc.

Pick one thing about the last 12 years of the Labour government that you would change?

Crikey, where do I start?! But, you said one thing, so I’d have to go for the way in which it has turned Britain in to something approaching a police state – politicising the police and abandoning centuries of hard won traditional civil liberties. David Davis was correct when he took his stand against the way Labour has extended state power and encroached on individual freedoms.

5 minute Q&A with…Annesley Abercorn PPC

Why should people get involved with organisations like Conservative Future?

The Conservative Party will shape the direction of this country in the future. This is an immensely exciting prospect and so people should join CF to be part of that change. Politics is also a lot of fun too and there are plenty of exciting political and social events to go to with CF – a perfect opportunity for a drink and political chit-chat!

Pick one thing about the last 12 years of the Labour government that you would change?

Give back to taxpayers the huge amounts of extra money Labour have taken out of our pockets in tax and subsequently wasted.

5 minute Q&A with Douglas Carswell MP

What are you currently working on?

Policy ideas to clean up Westminster politics

Pick one thing about the last 12 years of the Labour government that you would change?

I wished Labour had been bold and radical; on welfare they should have done what Frank Field wanted. On schools, they should have created thousands of independent academies. On health, patient power. What they did was waste money, without reform.
