William Hague visits the North East

28 April 2010 Emma Carr No Comment

William Hague visited target seats in the North East yesterday in the run up to the general election.  He met with locals from around the region on the street to chat about the change that the Conservatives can bring to the area and the dangers of a hung parliament.  The reception that he received was fantastic with locals stopping to wish him and the party luck and to have a quick snap with him.

When he reached Tynemouth he was greeted with a crowd of local supporters, CF and members of the general public who wanted to sneak a peak at the man himself and he didn’t disappoint!  He jumped onto the stage that had been set up especially and gave a rousing speech through a megaphone to the people of Tynemouth.  He spoke of the anger that the people of the north east are feeling towards Labour having been ignored and taken for granted over the last 13 years.  He commented on the importance of education and the health service in the region and the plans that the Conservatives have to strengthen each sector.  Cars that drove past honked in support and the crowd grew bigger and bigger.

In true William Hague style he refused to leave until he had met every member of the crowd and had a chance to chat with them.

He also commented that he was extremely impressed with the amount of young CF members that were present and congratulated us on the work that we had been doing in the  region.

CF is proving to be an invaluable tool in this general election and I urge anyone who hasn’t already been out to help to contact us and spend a few days of the next week campaigning for change in the North East!
