Yorkshire & Humber CF Overview
by Regional Chairman Philip Smith

On Tuesday 8th December Yorkshire CF held there third meeting of the year to discuss progress to date and General Election preparations. The meeting was a tremendous success with many members of CF attending.

I am pleased to announce the following new honorary positions of CF in our Region.

Robert Goodwill MP – Elected President
Simon Reevell – Vice President (PPC Dewsbury)
Robert Winfield – Vice President (Leeds Central chairman)

In addition I would like to announce the appointments from 1st January 2010 of:

James Deighton (james.deighton@yorkshirecf.com) as the new Deputy RC Campaigns
Paul Nizhinsky (paul.nizhinsky@yorkshirecf.com) has been selected as the new Deputy RC Political.

I would like to welcome Dave Bolt to our team who has replaced Dan Paterson as the new West Yorkshire Area Chairman. We wish Dan well as he takes up his new role in the voluntary party. Dave has been working hard for CF in Huddersfield leading our branch development and supporting our parliamentary candidates in the area. You can contact Dave at dave.bolt@yorkshirecf.com

We will be waving a fond farewell to Andrew Barrett this month who is stepping down as Area Chairman for East Yorkshire. Andrew has been a fantastic member of the team and will be missed. Andrew will continue fighting the good fight for Yorkshire CF in Brigg and Goole.

It has been a fantastic twelve months of strong progress and development for us. Every officer in the Region should be proud of what we have achieved. We are looking forward to the fight ahead next year and what we hope to accomplish on behalf of CF and our party. I wish all our members a very merry Christmas and happy New Year! For opportunities in Yorkshire drop me an email at chairman@yorkshirecf.com

Area Chairman News

Andrew Barrett for East Riding of Yorkshire and North East Linconshire

I would like to thank all members of Yorkshire CF for the support and friendship that I have had over the past year. I will miss many aspects of my role as Area Chairman for East but I still plan on keeping in contact with Philip and the team! I am looking forward to supporting Brigg and Goole with more of my time where we have a fantastic candidate in the form of Andrew Percy. I look forward to supporting my successor in the New Year whoever he or she turns out to be! Merry Christmas and all the best for 2010 folks! You can email Andrew at andrew.barrett@yorkshirecf.com

Chris Southeran for North Yorkshire

I was elected to the position of External Vice-Chair on the York Tories committee. I will now be organising guest speakers to visit campus, as well as encouraging joint campaign days with York St John CF. We have a number of targets to reach in terms of getting out for our PPCs in 2010, but until then let me wish all members of CF a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year!} Email Chris at chris.southeran@yorkshirecf.com

Dave Bolt for West Yorkshire

I would like to thank Dan Paterson for the support and wise counsel he has given to me since I became Huddersfield CF chairman in May; his advice has proved invaluable on numerous occasions. I consider it a great honour that he has nominated me to be his successor as West Yorkshire Area Chairman.

As the General Election draws nearer, opposition activity will undoubtedly increase in frequency, and we must counteract that by a concomitant intensification of our own efforts, particularly in key target constituencies. I know that CF efforts on behalf of PPCs are extremely welcome, but, more to the point, they are vital if candidates are to have a real presence in the areas which they hope to represent. Whilst we have undoubtedly achieved a great deal over the last year, the real battle has to commence, and I have every confidence that WYCF will be prepared when it does.If you live in West Yorkshire and want to get involved contact me at dave.bolt@yorkshirecf.com

James Gould for South Yorkshire

It’s that time of year were we all take a few days off, so I’ll keep my report short this month. It’s the end of what has been a very successful year for CF in South Yorkshire and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have contributed. Your time and effort is very much appreciated. We have a busy new year ahead of us, removing this government is going to take a monumental effort. Christmas will probably be the last chance to rest before the election, so enjoy, but brace yourself for what will be a non-stop 2010! Have a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year! Contact James at james.gould@yorkshirecf.com
