CF in the East Midlands: target seats
By James Poland.
The significance of Conservative Future (CF) in British politics should not be underestimated. During election time the party with the best delivery and canvassing network often comes out on top; and no group in our Party is more committed and able to deliver than CF. In the seven years since I became active in the Conservative Party I have seen first hand what CFers are capable of.
In 2005 I worked on Nicky Morgan’s campaign in Loughborough. With Labour holding a majority of over 6,000 it was always going to be a difficult fight, but Nicky understood the importance of Conservative Future in the campaign and as the CF Representative for Quorn, Loughborough; I fully understand this too.

Members of Conservative Future played such a vital role in that campaign, delivering leaflets, knocking on doors and generally ensuring the Conservative message was heard throughout the constituency that, although we didn’t win, Loughborough is now one of the Party’s top target seats in the country.
I myself gained a lot from this campaign too. I learned, first hand and hands on what is involved in a close General Election fight. I saw first hand what a real difference Conservative Future can and does make to such marginal campaigns and why CF will be absolutely integral to ensuring David Cameron walks into No. 10 next year.
I, for my own part, continued to benefit from being in Nicky Morgan’s team long after the election had finished and used that experience to get a job after university. Now I’m working for Anna Soubry, PPC for Broxtowe (another marginal East Midlands constituency) where I am able to continue the good practices learnt in Loughborough to hopefully get Anna elected. CF will undoubtedly be a key part of this campaign.
