Operation Christmas Child Project
North East Conservative Future are taking part in the Operation Christmas Child shoebox appeal this year. Im sure most people took part in this very worthwhile charity whilst they were at school but for those who dont know about it here is some information about the project.
It is very simple. You get a shoebox, choose whether it is for a boy or a girl and then fill it with treats.
The contents don’t have to be expensive or extravagant but every little thing that’s included will make a child’s Christmas that little bit more special.
Fill your shoebox full with gifts listed. PLEASE DO NOT wrap any items individually.
Please include:
Toys: Bear, soft toy, tennis ball, finger puppet, jigsaw, yo-yo, building blocks, small musical instrument. For boys trucks and cars, for girls dolls, clip on earrings etc.
Educational supplies: Felt pens, pens, pencils, pencil sharpener, eraser, colouring book, notepad, picture or puzzle book, chalk, pencil case, stickers etc.
Hygiene items: Toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, comb, hair clips, bar of soap, flannel etc.
Other items: Sweets (sell by date to be at least March of the following year), gloves, scarf, sunglasses, cap, hat, bangles, necklaces etc.
But please do not include:
No food especially chocolate. Only exception, non chocolate sweets are allowed.
No medicine or vitamins of any kind.
No war related items: Toy guns, soldiers or knives of any kind.
No clothing other than listed above.
No fragile items: Glass containers, mirrors.
No liquids: including blow bubbles, shampoo, bubble bath, toiletry sets or aerosols.
No dangerous items: Any sharp objects, scissors or razors.
Nothing of a political nature.
No hand knitted stuffed toys without a CE mark.
Seal the box with an elastic band so it can be reopened to check its contents.
I have the labels and stickers that need to be attached to the shoebox as do the branch chairmen so please get in touch with them or myself and I’ll make sure you get as many as you need.
Conservative Future is not just about campaigning and socials and through charity projects like this we can really make a difference. Please get family and friends involved too so we can get as many shoeboxes as possible to children around the world this Christmas.
I also urge people in other regions to take part. Consult the Operation Christmas Child website to see your nearest drop off point.
