We have delayed the launch of this month’s newsletter until after the June 4th elections. I’m glad to see that Labour have received the electoral slaughter they deserved; people are furious, not just over the recent expenses’ scandal, but with the last 12 years of ineffective and inefficient government. The people vented their anger at the ballot box. It was good to see the sound thrashing that the Lib Dems also received, even if the BBC referred to it as ‘mixed results’!
There are many reasons for our success, from the ‘Cameron effect’ to the appalling Government, but Conservative Future rightly deserves a strong mention. For the last few weeks, you have been out hour upon hour spreading our message and getting out our vote. I want to pass on my personal thanks to you all; I say it time and time again but CF is the backbone of the Party’s campaigning and, without us, the Party would not be as successful. You can all be very proud of the results we achieve.
I’m not keen to dwell on the negatives but we really do have to reflect on the impact of the ‘fringe’ parties; the fact that this magnificent country has fascist representatives in Europe is deplorable. The blame for this lies squarely with the left; the BNP are a racist, left wing party and have no place in modern politics. Whilst we know we need to fight the BNP, it really is Labour’s failure to appeal to their own voters that has brought shame upon our country.
At least we’re fighting and winning! It is not quite enough yet though; whether in a few weeks or months or indeed a year’s time, we will be having a General Election. I know nationally CF is ready for it, and given the results that have just come in, I know that our branches around the country are ready to fight for change, to deliver a Conservative future.
So, Mr Brown, call that election and let the Conservatives take back Downing Street!
Michael Rock
