Overview by Regional Chairman

Well another busy month for Yorkshire CF! On Saturday 9th South Yorkshire Area Chairman James led Sheffield CF to Doncaster where we were supported by a well known face, William Hague! Just two weeks later on Saturday 23rd we gave our Mayoral candidate Jonathan Wood another big day handing out leaflets at several locations across Doncaster Town Centre. I was lucky enough to be supported by CF Chairmens Gregory Rodwell, Robert McCuin, Jennry Bury and Joe Frake. Thank you all very much for coming along and bringing your supporters! It was great to have so many members of the team together… the family continues to grow!

Anna Appleton, CF Area Chairman for North, was elected as Chairman of York Tories at a Special General meeting on Thursday 28th. I would like to warmly congratulate Anna on this achievement! On behalf of all the Yorkshire CF team we wish her well in leading York Tories forward. Anna will continue working strongly alongside our team playing an active role in North Yorkshire and welcomes messages from members that you can send to anna.appleton@yorkshirecf.com

Applications for Anna’s replacement are now open. If you are friendly, pro-active and feel you have something to contribute to developing CF in North Yorkshire I would like to hear from you. Drop me an email at chairman@yorkshirecf.com explaining a little about yourself and what you feel you could contribute to the team. The successful candidate will be in place by June 30th.

Now all that’s left for me to say is happy voting! Let’s hope we are all celebrating big Tory gains next Sunday evening! Onward and upward!

Philip Smith
Regional Chairman

Area Chairman News

Vacant – North Yorkshire

Applications for North Yorkshire Area Chairman are now open. Drop me an email at chairman@yorkshirecf.com explaining a little about yourself and what you feel you can contribute to the team. The successful candidate will be in place by June 30th.

Andrew Barrett for East Riding of Yorkshire and North East Linconshire

May has been an important month for East Riding of Yorkshire & North East Lincolnshire. The European elections have been approaching and great effort has been put into leafleting and canvassing across the area. Our prospective parliamentary candidates continue to be in contact with residents and are pushing the change agenda. Change continues to be well received, especially in this month which has been dominated by MP’s expenses. Laying out expenses pledges has been an important first step towards regaining trust in our political system. You can email Andrew at andrew.barrett@yorkshirecf.com

Dan Paterson for West Yorkshire

This month has been quiet for CF in West Yorkshire given the fact that the vast majority of our members have had exams. We have however managed to get out campaigning twice – once in Leeds North East and once in response to Gordon Brown’s bust budget. We also held the first West Yorkshire CF drinks night at the Saltaire brewery, just outside of Bradford. The coming weeks will be taken up with campaigning for the European elections and then it will be setting out a plan for Freshers Faire in September.

That’s all for now, however if you would like to get involved please contact me at dan.paterson@yorkshirecf.com for details about organizations and opportunities in West Yorkshire.

James Gould for South Yorkshire

May has been a busy month in South Yorkshire, with the European and local elections at the start of June campaigning has really begun to pick up pace. Campaigning for the European election has been solid across the area and many constituencies have been honoured by the visit of at least some or all of our euro candidates. It has been the local elections however that have caused the most excitement over the last month and in particular the approaching mayoral election in Doncaster. Our candidate in Doncaster, Jonathan Wood, has a real chance of winning the mayoralty and striking a devastating blow to Labour deep in its heartland. I predict big things for Jonathan and so does the party.

It is because of this that there have been two major campaign days in Doncaster this month. The first of these was on the 9th of May and we were joined by William Hague. CF really pulled the stops out on this one and it was great to see so many representatives from across the whole of South Yorkshire converging on Doncaster to unite behind Jonathan and campaign with William. Then on the 23rd the Yorkshire campaign day came to Doncaster and we were glad to welcome CF activists from outside of South Yorkshire to Doncaster. Once again the campaign day was a great success. May has been a hard month and I think I speak for us all when I say I look forward to the relative respite that June promises. So it leaves me only to wish all of our candidates in local and the European elections the best of luck next week! You can contact James at james.gould@yorkshirecf.com
