Student Life Committee – year 2
We are happy to announce that Student Life is now in its second year! We would like to thank all those who helped make it such a success last year. The committee for the second year of Student Life is anounced below. Student Life will continue to be chaired by NME member, Patrick Sullivan
The aim of Student Life is to develop student CF groups for schools, colleges and universities. It is also to make our student groups indespensible to constituency associations and a key part of our National Campaigning Strategy. We also want to reach out to those traditional overlooked by CF student branches, such as postgraduates and part-time students.
Chairman – Patrick Sullivan
Patrick is 23, from Chelsea and on the Regional Executive of London CF.Whilst studying for his undergraduate degree at Nottingham University, he was Finance Officer of the Athletics Union and received a Students’ Union prize for his involvement in organising charitable events. Patrick likes to spend his spare time either at the gym or socialising with friends.
Vice- Chairman (External Relations) – Harry Cole
Harry is 23 and lives in Kent. He is currently in his final year at Edinburgh University. Harry has also been Chairman of the Edinburgh University Conservative Association, a Vice-President of Conservative Future Scotland and coordinator for the 2007 Freshers Campaign.
In his new role Harry is responsible for liaising with Students’ Unions, the NUS and other relevant organizations. Harry will also be responsible, alongside Ben Gray, for coordinating our strategy in regards to getting Conservatives elected on our campuses and beyond.
Vice-Chairman (Schools and Events) – Helen Roberts
Helen Roberts is 21 and in her final year studying Law at the LSE. She has formally been Vice Chair of the Student Tory Reform Group and a member of the LSE Students’ Union Executive. Helen has also hosted a student radio show and organized an extremely successful charity fundraising week at her University.
Helen hopes to increase the Conservative Party’s presence in Schools and Sixth Form colleges alongside organizing social events for Student Life.
Vice-Chairman (Universities) – Alexandra Swann
Alexandra was born in Farnham and brought up in Surrey before moving to Exeter to study Philosophy and Political Economy. Her interests involve music, festivals, lacrosse, socialising and travelling. Alex also has been involved in raising money for numerous charities through Exeter Student Guild’s charity wing.
She is keen to ensure all our University Branches get the recognition and support they deserve. Alex has also been Campaigns Officer for Exeter University CF and is presently Area Chairman for Surrey.
Director of Communications – Paul Wells
Paul Wells is 21 and is a final year History student at the University of East Anglia. He has served as an Executive Officer of his Students’ Union and also been a CF branch Chairman. Last year, Paul served as Student Life Elections Officer.
He was instrumental in making the Student Life Tours a success and in offering assistance to Conservative candidates in campuses across the country. This year, Paul will act as the administrative coordinator for Student Life and ensure the hard work of University branches is recognized on the main Conservative Future website and other conservative blogs.
Elections Officer – Ben Gray
Ben is a final-year student at the University of London soon to head on to law school. He has been heavily involved in the activities of his Students’ Union and the National Union of Students, holding various positions and participating in numerous campaigns and elections.
He will be working closely with Harry Cole to ensure good relations between Conservative Future and Students’ Unions, as well as helping Conservatives fight and co-ordinate successful elections on their campuses.
Events Officer – Serene John-Richards
Serene is 21,from Wandsworth and is also the Universities Officer for London CF. She is a student at UCL and was elected Vice-President of the UCL Conservative society, she also works part time as a pupil supervisor. Serene enjoys playing the piano in her spare time, as well as the occasional game of tennis.
Postgraduate Officer – Alice Wilcox
Alice is 26 and is a part-time postgraduate student at the University of Reading.
Alice hopes to ensure that Student Life adequately represents postgraduates and part-time students.
