5 minute Q&A with…Jimmy McLoughlin

27 March 2009 admin One Comment

Name: Jimmy McLoughlin
Role: CF Regional Chairman for the West Midlands

What are you currently working on?

18’000 words of essays (having completed 12’000 for a dissertation a month ago). Varying from David Cameron’s modernisation to the advantages of John Rawl’s original position!

Who is your political hero?

Winston Churchill. I think people forget the isolation of his position in 1940, yet he stuck to his beliefs and principles. I cannot think of any individual that influenced the path of history as much as him in the twentieth century, maybe ever.

When do you think the next General Election will be?

Just to be different. Autumn 2010, imagine some ‘national emergency’ occurring in Spring 2010, which Brown demands party politics is put aside …

Why should people get involved with organisations like Conservative Future?

For gaining the experience of running important organisations at a young age, and making a crucial difference in target seats.

Pick one thing about the last 12 years of the Labour government that you would change?

A simple change, would be to streamline the Criminal Records Bureau checks, currently if you want to be a governor at a school and a sports coach at another. You need to separate checks. Crazy. Embodies the over centralisation and control freakery of the last twelve years.
