5 minute Q&A with…David Cameron MP
Name: Rt. Hon. David Cameron MP
Role: Leader of the Conservative Party and Leader of Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition
What are you currently working on?
Working to bring about the change Britain so desperately needs.
Who is your political hero?
I’ve got lots.
One has to be Churchill, doesn’t it, given what he saved us from – and probably much of the world from, too.
I admire Robert Peel. He did the right thing and put country before party.
But there are plenty of other political leaders I admire – in my lifetime, Margaret Thatcher for one.
When do you think the next General Election will be?
Next year is beginning to look more likely than this, but Gordon Brown’s mind has already changed on this at least once, so our task is to be ready whenever it comes.
Why should people get involved with organisations like Conservative Future?
I can’t beat Iain Dale’s response… so I won’t try.
Rarely has the country needed change as badly as it does now. Given the scale of the challenge we face – first the electoral arithmetic to win the election and then the mess we will have to sort out if we do – we need every hand to the pump. That means everyone who shares the views of the modern Conservative Party should be getting involved. There’s a vital role to play for everyone.
Pick one thing about the last 12 years of the Labour government that you would change?
They didn’t fix the roof when the sun was shining. We’ve gone into this recession with a budget deficit of third world proportions, and next year are due to be borrowing 8 per cent of our GDP. It’s a disgrace.

Come on, answer this with even a little detail… we all know he’s trying to win the next election, yawn…
Also, ‘change’ mantra is not going to work here, George Bush isn’t the Prime Minister and DC is not different enough to Blair/Brown to make a noticable difference to the running of this country. Plus, Obama got there first.
“They didn’t fix the roof when the sun was shining… It’s a disgrace.”
Absolutely right.
The Conservative party is the only right option for Great Britain.
Good day all
I am totally in favour of the Conservative Party, particularly now, after the nonsense the Labour Party has created.
I, like most people, are very concerned about our future in England. The History books seem to be telling us this is what happened in the 1930′s with the rise of Hitler & the Nazi Party. We do not want to see a repeat of those days, do we?
I would like to make a suggestion to your Party Members, who for one reason or another, become enmeshed in their ‘Ivory Towers’ and lose all semblence of ‘the real world’. Could I possibly be one of your ‘on-the-ground-running-ordinary-people who can give an honest and frank opinion of what the ‘man-in-the-street’ really feels, and not the media-hyped-opinion poll rubbish we read about every day.
My background is dealing with Small & Medium sized Businesses, I’m also heavily involved with community schemes and I work with the University of Chester’s Student & Graduate populus placing them in SME’s to complete projects which drive their businesses forward (ERDF funded). As you can see, a varied and diverse job, of which brings me into contact with all-walks-of-life types of people, who are not short in coming forward with opinions……..please, please, please listen and act on honest, law-abiding, sound, feet-on-the-floor suggestions through me from honest, law-abiding, sound, feet-on-the-floor people with good ideas….or even, how they’re feeling at this time? Conservatives…..get real!!!
Having been a staunch Conservative all my life, I was really disgusted to learn that my MP Nicholas Winterton and his wife had used the expenses system to claim rent on a property which they already owned. Its not sufficient for them to stand down at the next election for a further hand out, they should be made to go now and return all the taxpayers money which they claimed, its also not sufficient for them to say they claimed within the rules. My vote and a lot of others will be dependent on how they go.
The flack has been flying around for a few days
Everyone seems to be concerned with the corrupt standards of all
parties.
I believe that this situation has been fed from above IE the corrupt
practices handed down from the upper echelon in BRUSSELS that everyone else has copied.
The accountants for the EU have refused to ratify the accounts
for the past thirteen years because ther are glaring anomolies in them
Could someone plese tell me.
Why are some UK political parties campaning to join the EU which appears to be a corrupt organization ??
An would it be on the point of being illegal for the UK to join
this organization (the EU) until the past accounts have been ratified.
Leave your response!
